Types of steel sheet piles
According to “Hot Rolled Steel Sheet Pile” (GB∕T 20933-2014), hot rolled steel sheet pile includes three types, the specific varieties and their code names are as follows: U-type steel sheet pile, code name: PUZ-type steel sheet pile, code name: PZ linear steel sheet pile, code name: PI Note: where P is the first letter of the steel sheet pile in English (Pile), and U, Z, and I stand for the cross-sectional shape of the steel sheet pile.
For example, the most commonly used U-type steel sheet pile, PU-400X170X15.5, can be understood as 400mm wide, 170mm high, 15.5mm thick.

U-type steel sheet pile
Why is it not Z-type or straight type but U-type commonly used in engineering? In fact, the mechanical characteristics of U-type and Z-type are basically the same for a single one, but the advantage of U-type steel sheet pile is reflected in the joint action of multiple U-type steel sheet piles.
From the above figure, it can be seen that the bending stiffness per linear meter of U-type steel sheet pile is much larger than that of single U-type steel sheet pile (the neutral axis position is shifted a lot) after the U-type steel sheet pile is bitten together.

Steel grade Q345 is canceled! According to the new standard “Low Alloy High Strength Structural Steel” GB/T 1591-2018, since February 1, 2019, the Q345 steel grade is canceled and changed to Q355, corresponding to the EU standard S355 steel grade.Q355 is an ordinary low-alloy high-strength steel with a yield strength of 355MPa.
